I’m a huge fan of documentaries and love to learn new things, use my voice for positive change, stretch outside my comfort zone, hang out with my family and build relationships. Although my background is business, my passion is advocacy. I’ve served in every capacity within various PT(S)A Boards at four MCPS schools. From Treasurer to Cultural Arts Chair and in between, I’ve been happy to serve students and the school communities I’ve been a part of. My daughter is a 7th grader at MLKMS and I have two other children as well (a son in 10th grade at Poolesville HS and a daughter in 5th grade at Goshen ES). My hope for our MLKMS community is that we parents and students come together to form a strong advocacy arm for our kids and our school, to embrace learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom and to gain valuable insight into how to support our students and each other. Here’s to a fabulous 2019-2020 school year!
My whole life I have grown up in Montgomery County, so I was raised in the MCPS system. I played soccer for 20 years, extending through college (Mitchell College and WVU), and softball for years on my company team (JDSU/VIAVI) in my adult life. I have lived in Germantown since 1996 and can normally be found walking our 3 dogs around the Waters Landing area. I have always been "that mom at all the PTA meetings" through elementary school (WLES) and into middle school here at MLK. I am passionate about the strength of the parent-teacher-student relationship and believe communication is the key to the success of our kids. My son is in 8th grade at MLK this year! Although I am taking on the role of Vice President for the first time, I will do my best to make this the best year possible! Come to the PTSA meetings and I will show you!
I am excited to be your PTA treasurer this year. We have been in the area for almost 20 years now so Germantown is home. Our son, Jackson Kaminski, is in 8th grade at MLK and was at Waters Landing Elementary before that. I love the outdoors so on the weekends you will find me hiking, running, sailing or just taking in the sunshine. I am passionate about ensuring that our kids are safe in school and that they have the tools and support they need to be successful. Looking forward to a great school year!
I moved to the United States from Liberia in 1998 and graduated from the University of Maryland University College where I earned a degree in Accounting. I have four children, three currently attending a MCPS school. I have been an active member of the community, helping in school activities for the past 10 plus years. My passion is increasing the diversity of the PTSA. I was the PTSA Secretary last year and will continue to do so this year. Let's have a great 2019-2020 year!
